Have a sewing machine sitting in a closet because you don't know where to start? You're not alone—and this class was designed for you.
A Beginner Sewing Workshop is the perfect beginner sewing class for anyone who wants to learn how to use a sewing machine with confidence. Whether your machine is brand new, inherited, or has been collecting dust for years, you'll gain the hands-on instruction you need to begin your sewing journey.
In this interactive workshop, you'll learn the essential skills every beginner should know, including:
Threading your sewing machine correctly
Winding and installing a bobbin
Choosing the right needles and thread for different fabrics
Understanding sewing machine tension and troubleshooting common problems
Exploring the most useful sewing stitches and when to use them
Becoming familiar with essential sewing tools and how they simplify your projects
Every student receives a comprehensive workbook and fabric swatches to reinforce what is taught in class, so you can continue practicing at home with confidence.
No prior sewing experience is required. Bring your own sewing machine, or use one of the professional sewing machines available in our studio.
This class is the foundation of the CJ Sewing curriculum and is required before advancing to our project-based classes, including garment construction, pattern drafting, alterations, zipper installation, and fashion sewing.
